Growth you can keep: profit, not just revenue
Revenue is easy to buy and hard to keep if the numbers don't add up. Profitable e-commerce growth comes from winning customers at a sensible cost, then selling to them again. I plan around that: acquisition, search, email and a smooth checkout, tracked against what each customer is worth.
Acquisition with paid ads
For new customers I run Meta ads and Google ads, starting with the Conversion API and product feed so data is reliable. Creative is tested continuously, and budget moves to products and audiences that pay back.
SEO for category and product pages
Organic search is the cheapest source of repeat traffic. I optimise category pages, product titles and descriptions, collections and structured data for products, and tidy duplicate and thin pages that weigh a store down. This is SEO applied to the way online shops are really built, on both Shopify and WooCommerce.
Email and SMS flows with Klaviyo
Most of the profit in a store comes from customers who come back. I set up automated Klaviyo flows for welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase and win-back, written in your brand voice, and measure them by revenue per recipient. Setting them up is a good place to apply AI automation too.
Cart, checkout and the platform itself
Small friction at the cart or checkout costs real orders, so I look at page speed, trust signals, shipping information and the number of steps. If the store itself needs rebuilding or tuning, that is website design on Shopify or WordPress with WooCommerce.
The numbers I track
Online stores run on a handful of metrics, and I report on all of them together:
- Conversion rate, because it shows how well the site turns visits into orders.
- Average order value, which decides how much you can afford to pay for a customer.
- Customer acquisition cost and return on ad spend, by channel.
- Repeat purchase rate and the revenue your email and SMS flows generate.
This service suits stores with a working product and some sales history. If you're still choosing a platform, start with website design.
